Nautical Lamps

If there was ever a fan of nautical lamps , it was my expensive old grandfather. He had nautical floor lamps Made out of broken items of driftwood or ships wheels, lighthouse lamps on his desk sold in little tourist shops in coastal cities, and even genuine hurricane lamps from on board a number of the last schooners to be decommissioned on the end of the age of sail. While you went to his home it will take you away on a flight of imagination. It was nearly like being at the backside of the sea. There was fishing internet strung from the ceiling, tangled blocks and deal with in every single place, and all types of nautical souvenirs, some of them real and some of them imitation. He did not appear to care that much. For him, it wasn't  the authenticity a lot because the ambiance that was important. He wanted things that really gave him the feel of being within the ocean, not essentially stuff that was authentic.

The funny factor was that some of his more genuine nautical lamps would truly be worth something. Antique ships lights are in high demand from collectors. There has by no means been extra nostalgia for an age than there is for the age of sail. Between would-be pirates, rich day sailors, surfers, and all the other seaside bums and ocean bums, there is a huge market among collectors for nautical lamps, compasses, charts, and different collectibles.

If my grandpa cared, he did not show it. His nautical lamps have been strewn far and wide, no matter their value. Sometimes you'd see a treasured antique lying neglected in dusty in the nook behind a few cheap lighthouse lamps. This used to irritate my sister to no end. You see, she was an newbie vintage collector, and valued those types of things. When she would tell him how much this or that piece was worth, he would just scoff and say one thing sarcastic to her. It was clear that he did not care.

Since he handed away, his nautical lamps have disappeared. Some of them have been offered off, others inherited by this or that relative, and a few remain unaccounted for. I managed to get ahold of 1 after we had been dividing up the estate. It's an genuine lighthouse lamp that after lighted a New England lighthouse about 150 years ago. God is aware of how he obtained it. From time to time, I light the lamp and have a look at it out of the nook of my eye, thinking of my grandfather
